‘From Above’ is one of my latest collections, inspired by satellite imagery of the landscapes and cities. Each piece of glass is hand cut and the edges are finished on a grinding wheel. The glass is then placed in an intricate design, creating an abstract pattern. Lustres are used the surface of the glass, giving this collection a beautiful quality.
‘Heatwave’ is a development from this, looking at satellite imagery of temperature maps with hot and cold spots. I have chosen to use warm hues with splashes of blue to represent these images abstractly in glass.

This beautiful handmade kiln-formed glass artwork is inspired from satellite imagery of Plaza Mayor, a public square in the heart of Madrid, Spain. The artwork has a unique form with angled lines running through the shallow dish.
The contrast of the warm colours and the splashes of blue work perfectly together. There are sections with lustres on the surface, which shimmer and give this artwork a wonderful quality. The stunning transmitted light and shadows coming through the glass, are an integral part of the piece.
