Using rich autumnal tones of plum, amber and garnet red this curved glass artwork has been created by painting and fusing different types and grades of sheet and crushed glass.
The fox is painted onto the base glass and fused. Following this initial firing more hand drawn detail is applied using glass enamels and then refined using the sgraffito method. Colour is applied by cutting coloured sheet glass and applying different grades of coloured crushed glass.
The glass is mounted onto a solid ash plinth and supported by handmade copper glass fixings.
A beautiful decorative item which can be placed in either natural or artificial light. The many vibrant colours of the glass will be reflected onto any surface.

The glass should be cleaned with warm soapy water only. The wooden base with a soft dry cloth. The copper glass fixings will tarnish over time, however they can be cleaned using any good brass cleaning products.
Wildlife, especially foxes have been a major source of inspiration for my work. I am particularly fascinated by their movement and energy and try to represent this using glass paints and coloured glass.
This little fox was hunting in my garden one late summer evening and jumped into a bush to catch an unsuspecting rodent. I was so surprised by his visit that I wanted to replicate this wonderful creature and his quick agility in glass. Using glass paints and the application of different coloured, hand cut, sheet and crushed glass, I feel I have been able to capture the subdued atmosphere, fading light and warmth of the evening.
