My perfect coffee cup– I wanted to make a cup that I liked drinking tea from, that would look good in any kitchen and felt great to hold in the hand. It took many experiments to perfect this form – the edge of rim has to be right both in the thickness of the clay and the glaze that touches the lips. I love the unexpected toasting of the clay – as the silky smooth glaze and raw pot fuse in the kiln, some magic occurs, tingeing the clay with a warm rich hue.
With small changes in the amounts of colouring oxide this glaze will vary from chun white or a palest hint of duck egg blue or a pale green in eau de nil –
In the same range are small bowls, dishes, teapots, extra large teacups and small medium and large jugs
