A bronze Dumpling Squash, produced as a limited edition. Due to the scale of the original squash, this work is produced using a more traditional application of the Italian or Renaissance Lost Wax method. There will only be 6 more of these works produced by commission. The entire process is undertaken at our studio and foundry in Suffolk; from the picking of the squash, wax chasing to investing, the casting and finishing, all the way to the patination.
A variety of coloured finishes are possible with this work, from a traditional dumpling light green to a pumpkin red – this can be specified on commission or left as a surprise by selecting the variation option ‘Any Patina and Finish’.
Please allow up to 3 weeks for the production of this work as the editions will be made to order. Once the series has been completed, the work will no longer be in stock. Please note, the postage listed is for the delivery of one squash tracked and signed.
Patina and Finish:
Green Hue, Deep Red, Warm or Yellow Hue
Waxed bronze surfaces will always dull a little in time. To return the original lustre, gently buff with a clean cotton cloth.
A very traditional looking squash, with deep cut sides and a long stem. The Dumpling Squash is a smaller variety of squash. There will soon be more squash specimens developed as Pomarius collections, some more rotten than others, but all with a very limited casting series.
The individuality of each piece is defined by the patina. The scope for experiment with patination within these pieces is very exciting given their scape and the natural colouration of squashes and marrows. New works will explore this and the fantastic diversity of shapes and forms found amongst the Curcubita family!
