This 30cm clear Bullseye Glass dish has two decorative feature strips – one is cut from a sheet of gold and purple iridescent glass and the other is composed of bits of ground brown and purple glass (frit.) The shape of the iridescent slice reminds me of a feather, so that is the name I have given the piece. It looks particularly good with purple fruit.

Hand wash. Food safe.
The dish starts with two sheets of clear Bullseye glass, with the top one cut to follow the shape of the iridescent “feather” that I cut from a sheet of gold and purple iridescent glass. I then created a complimentary shape of brown and purple ground glass (called frit) to go along side it. The piece is then fused in my kiln (the 22 hour firing goes up to 795 centigrade, and then slowly cools down.) The following day I place the fused piece over a shallow dish plaster mould, and then it goes back into the kiln for another day long cycle, during which it slowly slumps into the final shape.
