The series of “gilled” forms started by looking at organic forms in nature, specifically hidden or less visible forms. This might be something seen under the microscope or in the undergrowth. Gill-like growths are everywhere and they are beautiful! I wanted to capture this in my art. This piece is pared back, controlled and the plain white glaze emphasises the form. At the same time, it is a comfortable size, fitting nicely in the hands. As well as being a visual delight, it is intriguing to hold and explore with the hands. It is a form I enjoy exploring and developing with variations.
