Dry Clean only
A young graduate from the North West of England in the early 1980’s, Helen began to spend increasing amounts of time in a flat in London, and yes, she did marry him.
London exercised a fascination then which has never left her since, the couple began to explore it by way of urban walks using maps picked up from second hand bookshops. Maps already old, sometimes capturing the modern streetscape in clear focus, sometimes no more than a ghost from the past. Maps turned journeys into adventures. Maps evocative with the blue of the curving Thames, the green of the parks and the empire pink of the built up areas.
More than a quarter of a century later, now a textile designer/maker, and although visits to the capital are still frequent, life is too busy for urban walks. Her London collection therefore, uses those maps which introduced her to the city she loves. She shares with you the city from times long gone to celebrate London and to recall those urban walks.
