Description:

This stunning handmade wall panel of the Birmingham (UK) skyline is created with ‘Bullseye’ glass sheets and 1mm glass stringers (rods). It features some of the cities most iconic architecture, such as Saint Martins church and Selfridges, mixing the old with the new.
Four contemporary fixtures are included, showcasing the glass 20mm from the wall. This artwork lets transmitted light and shadows onto the wall behind, making this an integral part of the piece. At night when there is no natural light, the buildings become more 3D and have more depth.

Story:

This cityscape is very personal to me, as its my hometown. The abstract design was inspired from a photograph taken from the roof of the Custard Factory in Digbeth, where I had my studio and gallery a few years ago.

A H Contemporary Glass

Adam designs and makes handmade contemporary glass art from concept to installation for a variety of different markets; these include artworks for galleries, corporate and private commissions, public commissions and interiors for the home and businesses. He runs his creative business from his studio in Coventry.
Adam specialises in kiln-form glass techniques to create one of artworks, which have a handmade character. His award winning ‘Interference’ collection was featured in the Vogue Magazine’s Contemporary Collection for the Home. These artworks are constructed with 1mm glass stringers to create geo-metric patterns and abstract cityscape imagery. The relationship between glass, light and space is a key element in Adam’s studio practice; by using both transparent and opaque glass he experiments with the transmitted and reflective light created by each piece.
In 2018 and 2019 Adam was the Crafts Council’s Talent Ambassador for the West Midlands, he is also a ‘Fellow’ with the ‘Society of designer Craftsmen’
