Due to the hand crafted nature of this item, care and attention must be taken to prolong its life. Only wash when really necessary. Often airing a quilt is all that’s needed to refresh it. If necessary, hand wash in cold water using a gentle detergent. Take care when drying large quilts not to hang them. The weight of the water can cause stitches to break. It is advisable to dry flat.
Taking inspiration from traditional Amish quilts, this geometric design resembles birds in flight. The vintage sheets for this piece were found in French flea markets. The cloth has then been naturally dyed with Tamil Indigo, organic English madder and locally grown Weld. The grey tones are dyed with iron water, a solution made from rusty Victorian floorboard nails soaked in water and vinegar.
