ceramic sculpture of a cute badger having a scratch. Sculpted in white stoneware clay, and fired in an electric kiln to stoneware temperatures exceeding 1000 degrees centigrade. Coloured with underglazes, with glazes used on the eyes to make them shiny and realistic. It has been fired 3 times to get the desired effect. The clay has a rough texture which gives a nice texture to the sculpture. The badger has a matte finish as the underglazes are not shiny like glazes.

The sculpture is inspired by my love of animals and the funny things they do.

Original ceramic sculptures. Sculpted from stoneware clay and decorated with glazes and underglazes and fired to temperatures exceeding 1000 degrees centigrade in an electric kiln. They are fired at least twice to gain the desired colour effect. .
The pieces are made by creating a rough shape with newspaper and then applying this strips of clay around the newspaper. The aim is to create plenty of texture to add interest to the finished piece.
Louise’s animal sculptures are quirky and humorous, but not necessarily anatomically correct in looks or proportion.
