Description:

Archaeolepis (n) – the earliest known ancestor of butterflies and moths.

Inspired by antiquarian moth collections – taking care to record and preserve everything from giant Death’s Head moths to the common peppered moth, this print features over one hundred hand-drawn pencil moths on a textured watercolour ground, with a bright chartreuse border. The design is digitally printed onto a luxurious lightweight silk satin to capture the luminous transparency of their delicate wings.

The Busy Lizzie Scarf is the ultimate style classic, as made famous by Audrey Hepburn and worn to this day by the Queen herself.

All our scarves are carefully wrapped in tissue paper and placed in a hand-embossed box, perfect for treasuring for years to come. They make the perfect gift for yourself or someone special.

Weight 50 gm
Dimensions 90 × 90 cm
Care Instructions:

We recommend storing your scarf in it's box in order to keep it safe from moths.

Silk is a very delicate fabric and is best dry cleaned, but you can remove stains by hand washing with a gentle soap and warm water.

“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful” – William Morris

Also the Bison was founded by London-based designer Maddie Chambers following graduation from her MA in Fashion, during which she studied the designs and working practices of William Morris, and his daughter May Morris. These working practices have become the foundation of our business and what we believe in:

Design – Maddie hand paints all the bright, whimsical designs which gives each piece an artisan quality that cannot be replicated by digital colouring.

Recycling – we aim to have as little environmental impact with our products as possible. We use the finest natural materials, that can be recycled to lengthen their lifespan, wherever possible, staying away from harmful synthetic fibres.

Sustainability – we use digital print rather than screen printing which uses fewer harmful dyes that can pollute our waterways.

Ethical Production – we support modern craftspeople, we work with other small businesses in the UK to produce our collections so we can be sure that our production is ethical.

Practicality – we ensure that our products are not only beautiful, but useful, and can be treasured for years to come.
