This elegant bowl starts with a 25cm circle of clear Bullseye glass and a 20cm circle of silver on black iridescent glass. The two are fused together in my kiln, with a single thin rod of black glass and bit of black ground glass (frit) added as decorative elements. After the initial fusing, the piece is placed over a mould and placed back in the kiln, where it slumps into the mould to give it the final shape – a deep bowl with rounded bottom. It looks elegant on its own, but is also usable as tableware – perfect for fruit or sweets.

I work exclusively with Bullseye Glass – a specialty art glass designed for kiln fusing. This hand rolled glass is made in Portland, Oregon and is used by glass artists around the world. The range of colours and surface finishes is unique and I am continually exploring and experimenting with it to create original and unique art inspired pieces. The glass comes in sheets, which I cut and then fuse to create my design, which is usually abstract and asymmetrical. This season, I am creating a new range featuring gold and silver iridescent glass.
