ZziniHome has been on a thrilling journey of discovery and intense creativity.

For as long as I can remember, I have been reluctant to allow mass produced products in my home and have shun the mass owned. With a training in the arts, a love of craft as a mindful process, objects to me should be supercharged with meaning – by definition not readily available everywhere you turn – bring joy and make me smile.

It is with this in mind that I have become increasingly drawn to lighting as a form to express creativity.

The process has taken me though numerous misguided turns, working and reworking techniques, experimenting with shapes and sizes and researching and sourcing the right material.

It demands tons of accurate and methodical work as each thread is picked up, woven and sewn through.

It’s not unusual for me to spend over 25 hours to complete each of these shades but I find the process both exhilarating and cathartic in equal measure. The tactile feel of the wool, the rhythmic weaving of the frame and my imagining who it will delight, keeps me focused.

The result is a stunning range of artisanal lamp shades, beautiful by day, magical by night and always enchanting.
