ABOUT THE MAKER
I am a ceramic homeware designer that enjoys creating luxurious and functional tableware for the home. Steeped in history, Bone China has challenged me to focus on the balance between handmade and large-scale manufacturing to which the Bone China industry is infamous for. My inspiration stems from the growth of the tea and Coffee industry that includes the updated version of the iconic Brown Betty with its addition of the Loose-leaf infuser and the Coffee industry for its need for coffee immediately. My Drip coffee filter tackles this issue by slowing the process down and transforming it into an experience.

ABOUT THE WORK
Curious Chic is a voluptuous tea and coffee tableware collection that embraces the industrial history of British Ceramics. Inspired by Copper plate printing most commonly associated with heritage Ceramic Company Spode. Insects are concealed within Bone China creating a contrasting balance between luxury and what would otherwise be avoided and deemed as dirty. The insects concealed are best revealed when drinking from and put up against a strong light, catching the drinkers unaware and curious to view the insect inside.
The commercial look of the collection works as a disguise for what is found deeper in the collection. Several pieces of the ware have multiple functions, the plate and bowl function as everyday plain dinner ware however also transform into a beautiful statement cake stand. In addition, the loose-leaf infuser gives the drinker the opportunity to increase or decrease how strong the tea will be as teabags are no longer necessary. The infuser slots into both the Black porcelain teapot and the Curious Chic teacups giving the user the flexibility of tea for one or tea for four.
