Ana Simoes Jewellery

The granddaughter of a goldsmith, Ana Simoes spent her childhood watching her grandfather handcrafting beautiful jewellery from gold and gemstones.
She trained as a traditional jeweller/gem setter at a renowned Jewellery school in Porto and graduated from The Sir John Cass School of Art, Architecture and Design – London Metropolitan University – with a first-class BA (Hons) in Jewellery.

After graduating, Ana established a business partnership in London and participated in several distinguished Jewellery fairs across the UK such as International Jewellery London. In 2016, Ana relocated to Plymouth to work as the Workshop Coordinator for Jewellery at Plymouth College of Art, where she teaches jewellery making techniques to undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Ana’s wealth of experience as a designer-jeweller and educator resulted in the launch of Ana Simoes Jewellery in 2018. Her exquisite debut collection – Celeste – named after her grandmother, pays homage to her Portuguese and Moorish heritage, and the country’s unique and beautiful architecture. The colourful ornamental shapes and repeat-patterns found in Portuguese tiles are celebrated through the use of yellow gold, gemstones and natural stones.

An avid user of computer aided design (CAD), 3D printing and lost-wax casting; Ana combines traditional jewellery making techniques and contemporary design skills, to create one of a kind, timeless jewellery pieces with a distinctive aesthetic.
