Handmade in Britain was established over a decade ago by engineer-turned-designer Piyush Suri, advocate of everything handmade. After working for a few years in the industry, he single-handedly built his initiative to support and promote British designer-makers.
Throughout its existence Handmade in Britain has provided a platform to support and promote design and craft talent through fairs, events and pop-ups. Workshops and business mentoring are also key to Handmade in Britain’s mission to support the designer-maker communities. As a company we work hard to increase accessibility, create new market opportunities and maintain high standards in the contemporary craft sector, whilst providing a comprehensive support programme for new graduates and up-and-coming design talent. We continue to grow and expand, increasing opportunities for our members and raising our profile within the the sector and beyond.
We promote quality and skill by supporting exceptional craft practitioners engaged in all areas of design and craft, both traditional and modern, and we connect them with an affluent, fashionable and discerning audience. The quality of craftsmanship exhibited by our makers is echoed in the way we work both with our exhibitors and our associates. We collaborate with arts organisations to raise the profile of British designers through our shows and we are increasingly conscious of the opportunities we can offer to companies interested in supporting the British design industry.
We welcome your interest and can offer flexible, creative opportunities and fulfilling, lasting collaborations. There are a variety of ways in which you can get involved, all offering the obvious benefits of aligning your brand with outstanding handmade and sustainable design, and in being associated with innovation alongside tradition and cultural heritage.
Handmade in Britain appreciates the invaluable support of our partners, sponsors and collaborators in helping us to provide a professional platform for our exhibitors year after year.
The support and promotion of British craft & design remains central to our priorities for the future. We aim to facilitate greater exposure for, and appreciation of, the industry, and to provide comprehensive support to emerging talent.
We are growing. Our aim is to maximize the potential of our reach by forging collaborations with like-minded organisations, and through new, innovative and accessible projects celebrating exceptional British craft and design.
Handmade in Britain is an ambitious and ever-expanding brand; we are continually researching and developing new and exciting opportunities in the world of contemporary craft and design. With a passion for the handmade, we seek novel ways to promote the work of talented makers, designers and craftspeople whilst engaging new audiences. Forging new collaborations with compatible brands, partners and supporters is key to the continuing success and development of our events.
